A new Avengers: Secret Wars rumor suggests Marvel Studios could combine several elements from the Scarlet Witch & Young Avengers story into the upcoming movie. The rumor could give Wanda and the younger heroes a larger connection in the climax of the Multiverse Saga.
The claim comes from industry insider James Mack, who responded to a fan question on X rather than in a traditional trade report. A fan asked whether Secret Wars would lean into a Children’s Crusade-style story for Wanda or have her lead the Young Avengers outright.
Mack replied that the upcoming movie draws on the 2015 comic event of the same name. He also said Secret Wars will incorporate elements from Children’s Crusade, involving Wanda and the Young Avengers/Champions, as well as Avengers Forever, which features Loki as Avenger Prime.
Recent reports for Doomsday claimed that the movie’s reshoots included scenes with Wanda Maximoff. However, Marvel Studios has not officially confirmed these storyline details.
The Wanda and Young Avengers connection
In the comics, The Children’s Crusade follows Wiccan and his teammate Speed, both key members of the Young Avengers. They believe they are the reincarnated sons of Wanda and set out to locate her after Wiccan loses control over his powers.
Its storyline also features the X-Men and the Avengers racing to find the Scarlet Witch. Wiccan eventually discovers Wanda, who has seemingly lost her powers, suffers from amnesia, and is engaged to Doctor Doom.
If Marvel is drawing from that material, Scarlet Witch could serve as the link between the current Avengers roster, X-Men, and a new generation of heroes making their MCU debut.
Elizabeth Olsen‘s Wanda Maximoff last appeared in Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness in 2022. She seemingly died after destroying the Darkhold Castle atop Mount Wundagore, though her fate remained a topic of speculation among fans.
The report also pointed to Avengers Forever, a comic series that reimagines Loki as Avenger Prime, a powerful future version of the character.
Avengers: Secret Wars will debut in theaters on December 17, 2027.
