Jessica Williams has figured out exactly how to work alongside Harrison Ford without testing his patience. The Shrinking star says she treasures their professional relationship. However, she also knows when her famous costar has no interest in joining the cast’s “nonsense and shenanigans.”
Jessica Williams explains why she tries not to bother Harrison Ford with ‘nonsense and shenanigans’
Williams opened up about her dynamic with Harrison Ford during a new People interview. “I don’t need friendship from Harrison Ford,” Williams said. “I get to work with Harrison Ford.” Rather than sounding cold, Williams framed the comment as appreciation for simply sharing scenes with the Hollywood veteran.
Moreover, she said Ford has become part of the cast’s wider dynamic. Still, Williams knows when to give him space. “I know not to bother him with nonsense and shenanigans,” she joked.
That does not mean the Jessica Williams Harrison Ford relationship lacks warmth.
Williams said she respects Ford’s time and appreciates the moments when he chooses to join the group. In fact, she described those occasions as particularly meaningful because nobody pressures him into participating.
Their chemistry has become an important part of Shrinking, where Williams plays therapist Gaby and Ford stars as Dr. Paul Rhoades. The Apple TV+ comedy has also earned both actors major award recognition. Williams received another Emmy nomination for the series this year, while Ford landed nominations for both Shrinking and The Studio.
Meanwhile, Ford has spoken warmly about his younger costars. His dry sense of humor often mirrors the blunt personality viewers see from Paul. Williams has also discussed the bond behind the scenes. Previously, she praised Ford while explaining how the cast developed its close chemistry.
Still, she clearly does not expect constant attention from the 84-year-old actor. Instead, Williams seems happy to enjoy whatever version of friendship Ford wants to offer.
That approach may explain why their working relationship sounds so easy. Williams gives Ford room to be himself, while appreciating every moment he decides to join the fun.
