Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have faced criticism over their reported concerns about the timing of King Charles’ letter. Royal author Phil Dampier recently spoke about how the couple has little room to complain, claiming they also made a major move without giving the Royal Family much warning.
Expert blasts Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s alleged worries about King Charles’ letter timing
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were reportedly “surprised” about when King Charles’ letter arrived, especially because a decision on their long-running request for royal security may be coming soon. According to The Sun, an upcoming meeting could decide whether the couple will receive the royal protection they have wanted for years.
However, Phil Dampier does not think the Sussexes have a strong reason to complain about the timing. The author of “Royally Suited: Harry and Meghan in Their Own Words” said the couple was creating unnecessary drama and trying to attract attention. “I think Harry and Meghan like drama. I think they like being the centre of attention,” Dampier said. He argued that their own return to Britain demonstrated why they could not complain about how Charles handled his message.
Dampier claimed Harry and Meghan did not give the Royal Family enough time to prepare for their move back to Britain. “They didn’t take timing into consideration when they suddenly moved back without telling anyone,” he said. The royal author went further by calling the couple the “worst culprits” when it comes to timing.
Dampier’s main concern is that Harry and Meghan’s future public appearances could clash with official royal events or take attention away from other members of the Royal Family. “When Harry and Meghan are out and about, who’s to say they won’t time things deliberately to overshadow other members of the Royal Family, particularly William and Catherine?” the author said.
He also suggested that the Palace had little opportunity to prepare for their return because the move reportedly came as a surprise. “I think they’re trying it on,” Dampier added. “No one was expecting them to come back, so no one had time to figure out what to do about it.”
