Nicolas Cage’s Canceled ‘Spider-Noir’ Gets the Last Laugh After Cancellation

Spider-Noir may have lost its future at Prime Video, but the Nicolas Cage series just scored a major awards victory. Only days after Prime Video pulled the plug, the canceled Marvel series collected five Emmys and ended its run on a surprising high.

Prime Video canceled ‘Spider-Noir,’ but the Nicolas Cage series still dominated with five Emmy wins

Spider-Noir earned five awards during the 2026 Creative Arts Emmys on Sept. 6. The Television Academy confirmed the series finished the ceremony with five wins. That total placed it among the night’s most successful multiple winners.

The show won for title design, sound editing, cinematography, special visual effects and stunt coordination. Those Spider-Noir Emmy wins arrived just two days after Prime Video decided not to continue the series.

The streamer canceled the show on Sept. 4 after one eight-episode season. The decision came roughly three months after its May debut. Still, the Nicolas Cage series entered awards weekend with strong industry recognition. It scored 11 Emmy nominations, the most for any Prime Video series this year.

That makes the timing especially striking. Prime Video ended the show before the Creative Arts Emmys could reveal just how much support it had among television voters.

Cage, however, appears comfortable with the series ending after one season. “For me, one season is perfect,” he said in a statement. He added that he had said what he wanted to say with his version of the character.

The cancellation may still disappoint fans who embraced Cage’s take on the web-slinger. Earlier this year, his first-look photos drew enthusiastic reactions online.

Meanwhile, the show’s trailer generated even more excitement over its noir-inspired visuals and Cage’s performance. The actor also had fun with the attention surrounding the project. While promoting the series, he discussed his famous viral memes and joked about how the internet has reshaped his public image.

For now, Prime Video has not reversed the Spider-Noir canceled decision. However, five Emmy wins give the Marvel series an impressive final chapter. Even without Season 2, Spider-Noir now leaves behind an awards record that makes its abrupt ending harder to ignore.
