Erin Lichy has heard plenty of opinions about herself since joining RHONY. However, one assumption still gets under her skin as she prepares for another season of life in front of Bravo cameras.
Erin Lichy explains why the “pampered” label still bothers her ahead of RHONY Season 16
Lichy addressed the misconception during a new Us Weekly interview ahead of The Real Housewives of New York City Season 16. “I feel like people think that I’m so pampered, and I have worked so hard,” Lichy said.
Although she acknowledged growing up comfortably in New York City, Lichy pushed back against the idea that success simply came to her. “I was not given anything,” she said. Instead, Lichy stressed how much effort she has put into building her career.
Still, she admitted that the misconception bothers her. Some viewers recognize her work ethic, while others continue to see her differently. The RHONY star has also learned that correcting every assumption online rarely helps. In fact, Lichy said she tries not to read comments because every Housewife eventually takes criticism.
Her relationship with reality TV has changed since she first joined the franchise. Earlier, Lichy admitted she went into joining RHONY without fully understanding what the experience would demand.
Meanwhile, she never seemed ready to walk away permanently. Last year, Lichy said the cast needed to “see this through” when questions surrounded the show’s future.
Now, viewers will see her return alongside Sai De Silva and Jessel Taank. Carole Radziwill also rejoins the Real Housewives of New York, while Hailey Glassman, Erika Hammond and Daisy Toye enter as new Housewives. Moreover, Andy Cohen has already teased that Erin lands in the middle of the drama this season.
For Erin, however, Season 16 offers another chance to challenge what viewers think they know about her.
The Real Housewives of New York City Season 16 premieres Sept. 8 at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
