Ben Browder Will Meet ‘Doctor Who’ In The Old West

Outside of the realms of fan fiction, The Doctor has never traveled to the Uncharted Territories or stepped through a Stargate alongside the SG-1 team. But the next season of “Doctor Who” may have the next best thing.

According to The Official Doctor Who Magazine (via DoctorWhoTV), Ben Browder will appear in the third episode of the seventh season of “Doctor Who;” which is tentatively called “The Gunslinger.” The episode was scripted by Toby Withouse and it is currently being filmed in Spain, which will stand in for the Old West. “The Gunslinger” is also said to be one of the last episodes to feature Karen Gillan as Amy Pond and Arthur Darvill as Rory Williams. Both Gillan and Darvill confirmed their departures from the series late last year.

Browder is best known among genre fans for his iconic role as John Crichton on “Farscape” and for playing Cameron Mitchell for two seasons on “Stargate SG-1.” Browder also voiced the DC Western hero Bat Lash on an episode of “Justice League Unlimited.”

The Doctor Who Magazine also confirmed that Mark Williams, Rupert Graves, David Bradley, Adrian Scarborough, Dominic Kemp and Rob Cavazos are all slatted to make guest appearances during the early part of the second season. It also noted that “Doctor Who” showunner, Steven Moffat is writing a two part episode for the second half of the season that will be directed by Nick Hurran; who helmed “The Girl Who Waited” and “The God Complex” in season six.

The seventh season will also be split into two halves, as expected. But it isn’t clear when the split will occur. There is also a rumor mentioned at Bleeding Cool that one or two of the episodes from the seventh season will take place on Skaro, the home world of the Daleks.
