Heidi Klum is set to return to America’s Got Talent soon. The fan-favorite judge will step back into her role for a special episode of the hit series as Simon Cowell continues recovering from back surgery.
Heidi Klum to return to America’s Got Talent
Heidi Klum is returning to the America’s Got Talent judges’ table, filling in for Simon Cowell during a special three-hour quarterfinal episode on September 8. The announcement came during Wednesday’s episode of the competition.
Klum previously served as a judge from 2013 to 2018 before leaving the show. She later rejoined the judging panel in 2020 and remained with the series through 2024.
Klum left America’s Got Talent after taking on her role on Project Runway. She was brought back to host the show for Freeform and Disney+. Now, she is getting another chance to judge the competition. Her return comes while Cowell continues recovering from surgery. The popular judge is expected to miss several live shows.
Klum also acknowledged the news on Instagram. She shared several official posts announcing her return on her Instagram stories. The posts confirmed her upcoming appearance on the judging panel.
Her return comes after Kenan Thompson filled in for Cowell as a guest judge during this week’s episode. Cowell is taking a short break from Season 21 while undergoing routine back surgery. The procedure is related to injuries from his 2020 e-bike accident.
Cowell suffered multiple fractures to his back in the crash and later underwent a six-hour operation (via USA Today). The procedure and his recovery have kept him away from the show for an extended period.
With Klum stepping in for Cowell, viewers will see a familiar face behind the judges’ table. Her appearance will give the show a familiar dynamic while Cowell remains away during his recovery.
