Michael Bay reveals Shia LaBeouf’s Transformers ride story
Michael Bay recently spoke about a conversation he had with Shia LaBeouf in which the actor shared an emotional experience involving the Transformers attraction at Universal Studios. LaBeouf told Bay that he took his four-year-old daughter, Isabel, to the ride and experienced the franchise from her perspective for the first time.
Bay discussed the conversation during an interview with TMZ’s Charlie Neff, who asked the director about LaBeouf and the challenges the actor has faced in recent years. Bay said he had not spoken with LaBeouf about those matters, but recalled their conversation from roughly six months earlier.
According to Bay, LaBeouf had never told Isabel that he appeared in the Transformers movies. “I have not spoken to Shia probably in about six months. He called me, and this was a very nice call he gave… And he goes, ‘I finally saw our movies through my daughter’s eyes.’ And he said, ‘I cried.’ Cried twice.”
The director further added, “He’s never mentioned to his daughter ever that he’s ever been in the movie.”
Bay also said about LaBeouf, “He’s a great guy and you know, he’s a great actor. I had an amazing time working with him, and I think he’s a very good person.”
LaBeouf portrayed Sam Witwicky in the first three Transformers films, which were directed by Bay, before leaving the franchise and being replaced by Mark Wahlberg, who starred in a new leading role in the live-action franchise for the next two films.
