Sophie Turner’s upcoming Tomb Raider series faced scrutiny from Britain’s workplace safety regulator after officials found production-related breaches of UK safety laws.
The Health and Safety Executive, or HSE, issued an improvement notice to Project Temple Productions Ltd., the company producing the Amazon MGM Studios series. The company later addressed the issues and met the required regulations within a month.

The regulator said Project Temple Productions Ltd. failed to carry out required “biological monitoring” for crew members working around isocyanate paints at Shinfield Studios.
Workers can face health risks when spraying those paints, including occupational asthma. HSE guidance requires employers to use suitable protective equipment and determine how long airborne mist remains in the work area.
The agency found that the production had breached the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002.
HSE issued its improvement notice in April, directing the company to correct the safety failures. Records on the regulator’s website show that Project Temple complied with the requirements the following month.
Such action against television productions remains uncommon. According to the source, HSE has issued similar notices to only four TV productions over the past four years.
The safety finding came during production of the new Tomb Raider adaptation, which began filming in January. Amazon MGM Studios previously released a first-look image of Sophie Turner as Lara Croft.
The production also experienced a separate setback when Turner suffered a minor injury during filming. That incident temporarily paused production for roughly two weeks while the Game of Thrones alum recovered. The source does not connect Turner’s injury to the HSE violations.
