Lionel Richie has been hospitalized in a St. Louis ICU following his performance at The Muny in Forest Park on August 29. The 77-year-old was reportedly admitted to the hospital after experiencing “slight dehydration.”

According to TMZ, Lionel was taken to the ICU for “some tests” after becoming ill during the performance. The four-time Grammy winner, who got his start in 1968 as a founding member of The Commodores, is expected to leave the hospital on September 1.
Concertgoers reportedly noticed Lionel having a tough time toward the end of the performance. While performing All Night Long, he asked his team to bring him a chair. He completed the song from his seat.
This isn’t Lionel’s first recent health scare. In June, the American Idol judge was rushed to a hospital after becoming ill during a performance in St. Paul, Minnesota. The singer said he began feeling “dizzy” and “strange” onstage. He sat down on one of the stage platforms as he performed Dancing on the Ceiling, TMZ earlier reported.
He joked on the stage, saying, as quoted by FOX Baltimore, “What I have learned about my years of being in the business. When you are feeling dizzy, sit you’re a– down. And when you are feeling strange about yourself, sit you’re a– down!” he told the crowd. Now, I want you to know, that’s the first time in the history of ‘Dancing on the Ceiling’ I’ve done it sitting down. That’s a bad sign, y’all!”
However, after Lionel walked offstage, saxophonist Dino Soldo told concertgoers that the singer was feeling ill and could not continue performing. He then canceled two concert shows in Chicago and Columbus, Ohio. The singer later put fans at ease by saying he was doing well and thanking them for their support via an Instagram post. He wrote, “Thank you for every message, every kind word, and for all your love. I’m doing well, and I’m grateful for all of you.”
