Legendary actor Tim Curry has breathed his last at the age of 80. He is best known for his role in The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Stephen King’s It.
According to TMZ, Curry passed away on August 25, 2026, at his home in Los Angeles. The actor was reportedly struggling with serious health issues for over ten years. He suffered a major stroke on July 13, 2012. The actor had to undergo surgery following the stroke and sustained several health complications, as per reports.
Police sources have revealed that officers went to his home at 11:23 PM on Tuesday after receiving a report. Officials have stated that no foul play has been suspected.
Curry portrayed Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the 1975 horror musical The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Before starring in the film as Dr. Frank-N-Furter, he played the same role in the original 1973 London stage musical of the same title. Curry dressed in a corset, fishnet stockings, heavy makeup, and tall platform heels to portray the role of the scientist in the cult classic and his ensemble became quite iconic.
The veteran English star is also known for his role as the dancing clown Pennywise in the 1990 horror drama It. The television series based on the famous 1986 horror novel written by Stephen King was directed by Tommy Lee Wallace. Reflecting on Curry’s role as Pennywise, the director told The Hollywood Reporter back in 2017, “My job was to give Tim the stage and not get in his way too much. He was like Robin Williams in the way he brought spontaneous improvisation to the part.”
Alongside portraying Dr. Frank-N-Furter and Pennywise, he has also taken up the roles of Rooster Hannigan in Annie (1982), Darkness in Legend (1985), Gomez Addams in Addams Family Reunion, and Wadsworth in Clue (1985). The English actor also worked in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, The Three Musketeers, The Hunt for Red October, The Worst Witch, Scary Movie 2, Congo, Charlie’s Angels, and others.
