With Donald Trump continuing to double down on his supposed friendship with Kim Jong Un, Jimmy Fallon has taken it as an opportunity to paint the two as an on-and-off couple. In his latest monologue, the late-night talk show host ripped into the POTUS’s recent announcement of potentially setting up a meeting with the Supreme Leader of North Korea by describing their relationship as an “old hookup.”

On Wednesday’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the titular host opened proceedings by mocking the budding bromance between Trump and Kim Jong Un.
Reacting to the president’s statement about meeting his North Korean counterpart, Fallon quipped, “Man, you know you’re depressed when you’re texting an old hookup from seven years ago.” He then pretended to take out his phone to text and joked, “What are you doing? You want to hang out?”
Notably, Donald Trump has spoken at length about his “very good relationship” with Kim Jong Un of late. On August 15, he took to his Truth Social profile to emphasize this sentiment by sharing a picture with the Asian politician, along with a caption that read, “Despite the unfriendly look on this particular picture, there are many where we’re smiling, Kim Jong Un and I get along GREAT!”
Trump also claimed that he has had fruitful conversations about meeting Kim Jong Un in recent times, before sharing a meme featuring the Supreme Leader of North Korea.
Jimmy Fallon further ridiculed the prospect of the two world leaders’ meet-up by saying, “Trump and Kim could meet in November. It all really depends on how their couple’s Halloween costumes goes.” Imitating the POTUS, Fallon remarked, ” I’m chips, he’s guacamole.” He then shared a picture of the duo from their last encounter and quipped, “I think it’s cute how their bellies bump like the two soon-to-be moms at Lamaze class.”
