One MasterChef Australia judge was reportedly concerned over a potential security breach when Prince Harry made a surprise video call to his wife, Meghan Markle. For those unversed, the former actress made an appearance on the popular cooking show on July 26. At one point, Markle received a phone call from the Duke of Sussex. This raised questions over whether it was spontaneous or pre-planned.
Judge Sofia Levin says Prince Harry’s call was unplanned and briefly prompted fears of a security breach
MasterChef Australia judge Sofia Levin cleared the air about Prince Harry’s surprise video call to Meghan Markle during the Duchess’ special appearance on the show. Levin talked about whether the video call was staged or not during a recent red carpet appearance at the Logies. As per News24.com.au, “It was very real. It was so real that usually they tell us what’s going to happen in advance. They didn’t tell us.”
Levin even confessed that the unexpected timing of the surprise video call made her and fellow judge Poh Ling Yeow suspect there was a “security breach.” The 36-year-old dished: “The bit that probably didn’t make it into that edit was Poh and my … faces, because we thought there had been a security breach. If someone sort of interrupts like that (that’s what you assume).”
However, it was only after they saw Prince Harry’s face that they “sort of figured out what was happening.”
The Duchess of Sussex’s appearance on the show was marked with controversy. Reports claimed that she was difficult to work with. Several reports also indicated that Markle was not happy about being addressed by her royal title and allegedly gave the crew a hard time.
However, Levin has categorically clarified that the media reports are not true. The 36-year-old said: “None of the bad stuff is true. She was just an absolute delight. People are really mean. My experience of Meghan was that she loved food… we hung out when we weren’t filming… she didn’t run off to her green room. She wanted to talk about beekeeping and her kids and the things she likes to cook and eat. It was really nice getting to see that side of her.”
