Salma Hayek has a brand-new role, a role of a grandmother! The 59-year-old actress is officially a grandmother after her stepson, François Pinault Jr., welcomed his first child with his wife, Lara Cosima Henckel von Donnersmarck. Hayek shared a sweet glimpse of her grandson on Instagram and revealed that although the baby has a very familiar name, she already has a special nickname picked out for him.

On Sunday, Aug. 16, Hayek posted a sweet video of herself holding her grandson and speaking to him in Spanish.
The baby’s name is François, just like his father and grandfather. But Hayek has already decided that she won’t be calling him that. “We are blessed to welcome the fourth living generation of Francois’. Although I will call him Panchito. He seems to love it, and I cannot love him more,” she wrote in the caption.
Honestly, having a grandmother who gives you a cute nickname before you’re even old enough to complain about it sounds pretty sweet.
Lara also shared more photos of the newborn last week, including another adorable picture of Hayek holding her grandson. In the caption, she wrote, “My husband (the world’s coolest françois) and our son( the world’s cutest françois) … our first month as parents?.”
Hayek has been part of the Pinault family for years. She married François-Henri Pinault in 2009 and became a stepmother to his three children, Mathilde, François and Augustin. She and Pinault also share their 18-year-old daughter, Valentina, whom they welcomed in 2007.
For Hayek, becoming a stepmother was a blessing she had not expected to experience in quite the same way. In an interview in 2017, she told Red magazine, “I always wanted to have a lot of children, and I was not able to. My body, as a miracle, had one.” She also mentioned, “The huge blessing I’ve had is that my husband has three other children. So I have four. And they are all so different.”
Now, Hayek has a new family title to enjoy. And if little Panchito already loves his nickname, it looks like grandma Salma is off to a very good start.
