A thaw between Prince Harry and King Charles could create a new challenge for Prince William. The brothers have remained estranged, even as Harry has become more determined to repair his relationship with their father. Now, a royal expert claims William may eventually struggle to ignore the situation if the Duke starts visiting Britain more frequently. With the possibility of a public appearance between Harry and Charles at the 2027 Invictus Games, the family’s unresolved tensions could once again come into focus.
Prince William will find Prince Harry and King Charles reunion ‘difficult to ignore,’ per expert
Prince William could find it increasingly difficult to stay detached if Prince Harry and King Charles continue mending their relationship. Reports indicate Harry is keen to rebuild his bond with his father. He is also said to be hoping they could appear together at the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham.
The speculation follows Harry’s meeting with Charles at Highgrove. The Duke of Sussex, Meghan Markle, and their children were reportedly able to spend time with the King and Queen Camilla during the visit.
However, the situation with William appears to be different. His relationship with Harry has remained deeply strained since the brothers’ falling-out. Harry’s public comments about the Royal Family, including those in his memoir “Spare,” have also added to the tension.
Royal expert Jennie Bond suggested that William currently appears focused on his own responsibilities. Still, she believes Harry’s increased presence in the UK could eventually make the situation more difficult to avoid. “If Harry does start to come to the UK more often and to see their father, it’s going to become increasingly hard for William to ignore the situation,” Bond told the Mirror.
That does not necessarily mean a reconciliation between the brothers is imminent. Bond also considered whether Kate Middleton could potentially help bridge the divide. However, she said that would only happen if William himself wanted her to become involved. At present, she noted, there is “absolutely no indication that this is the case.”
Meanwhile, the 77-year-old monarch could find himself caught between his two sons. Bond described his position as a “tightrope” and said that he may want to improve his relationship with Harry. At the same time, he would need to avoid creating further tension with William. “That’s a very awkward situation for a father to be in,” Bond added.
