CNN’s chief international correspondent has responded to the White House’s remarks on her dancing video. Clarissa Ward shared an Instagram video in which she danced at the airport. She wrote, “When you get an assignment that is just good fun…. Feeling PUMPED! Can you tell?”

The White House reshared the video on its X account with a mocking message, “Imagine being a self-described ‘serious’ journalist at CNN and acting like a complete freak in public, embarrassing yourself all for some social media clicks. Honey, nobody wants to watch that hot mess.”

Ward was quick to call out the Trump administration. She commented on the post, saying, “Dancing is good for the soul.”

Many online users supported Ward and criticized the White House over its remarks. One user said, “When you have seen as many war zones as she has, you can make a nonsensical judgement call.” Another X user wrote, “Obviously you wanted to watch it, and wanted all of us to watch it… please do better rapid response.

One user defended Ward, saying, “It’s a fun-loving video! So what! She is an amazing journalist and is fluent in at least 3 really difficult languages. Her reporting is in the most dangerous, war torn places and she is able to speak directly to the people on the ground in their languages. Let her have a little fun.”

Clarissa Ward’s criticism of Donald Trump is not new, as the journalist has previously spoken out against Trump for his behavior toward the press. According to OK! Magazine, she previously mentioned that the president calls the media the “enemy of the people.”

Ward’s response has drawn support from online users who defended her right to enjoy lighthearted moments.
