Doja Cat had some blunt words for Tyga after the rapper admitted he used artificial intelligence while making his new album, $TARFACE. The Grammy winner called out the project during a Twitch livestream, turning Tyga’s already controversial AI experiment into an unexpected celebrity feud.
The Doja Cat Tyga clash came after Tyga released $TARFACE in late July under his new Starface persona. The project marked a sharp change from his usual hip-hop sound, drawing heavily from ’80s synth-pop and futuristic production.

Doja Cat did not exactly mince words during her livestream. “Nobody asked me anything about Tyga, but I just felt like saying this. Tyga is a penis for making an AI album,” she said.
Tyga had openly acknowledged the AI use in an interview with Vibe, explaining that the technology helped shape parts of the project. “We definitely used AI as a [tool on the album]. And I know people are going to be mad about me saying this, but it’s where technology is going,” he said.
The rapper compared AI music tools to Auto-Tune and argued that artists could embrace new technology without sacrificing their own creativity.
“It’s no different than when autotune came out. Some people were opposed to it, but real artists took it and used it,” Tyga said.
He also explained how his team used AI during production. “We were like, ‘You know what? I need some ‘80 synths for a certain part of this song. I need a guitar solo done ASAP’,” he said, while stressing that he handled the vocals himself.
That explanation did little to quiet the criticism surrounding the Tyga new album. Pitchfork gave $TARFACE a 0.0 rating, with its review taking particular issue with the project’s artificial and derivative qualities.
AI music has already divided the entertainment industry, with performers and creators debating where technology ends and human artistry begins. Hollywood also grappled with AI during the 2023 industry strikes.
