Russell Myers says mutual support has kept Prince William and Kate Middleton working ‘in tandem’
In his interview with the Mirror, royal editor Russell Myers opened up about the secret behind Prince William and Kate Middleton’s successful marriage. Myers, who authored “William and Catherine: The Monarchy’s New Era: The Inside Story,” highlighted the couple’s unwavering support for each other both as working royals and parents to their three children.
“The secret to the Prince and Princess of Wales’ marriage is support for one another throughout their roles as working royals and as parents to their three young children,” Myers explained.
The royal editor further noted, “Everything they do is in tandem includes Catherine being the catalyst for William launching the Earthshot Prize, when he doubted it could become the global success it has.”
Following their summer break, the Prince and Princess of Wales are expected to return to their respective projects. Catherine has continued to support William’s environmental efforts and is reportedly expected to join him at the 2026 Earthshot Prize ceremony.
Jennie Bond, ex-BBC royal correspondent, also told the Mirror that the couple is together in their environmental mission. “They are completely aligned in their love of nature and their belief in the climate crisis facing the world,” Bond said.
The 75-year-old continued, “It’s not just that she feels she should support her husband.” Bond shared that Catherine is equally concerned for the natural world, fresh air, and the delicate preservation of the planet. “And that’s one of the many reasons why they make such a great team,” the journalist explained.
Bond added, “We’ve seen William supporting Catherine with her early years work, happily taking a back seat.” However, he showed “his belief in her campaign.” Thus, Catherine does the same for her husband. “They are partners and far more equal partners than many future kings and queens before them,” Bond noted.
