Kate Middleton Could Make a Major Royal Return Alongside Prince William

Kate Middleton will reportedly travel to India alongside her husband, Prince William, for the Earthshot Prize 2026. Notably, Middleton is set to make her comeback to the Earthshot Awards for the first time since 2022. This will mark a significant step in the princess’s return to royal life since her cancer diagnosis in 2024. Kensington Palace has not confirmed the plans as of the writing of this article.

The Princess of Wales may accompany Prince William to Earthshot Prize 2026 in India

As per Mirror, Kate Middleton may follow her husband, Prince William, to India in November for the Earthshot Prize 2026. Although Kensington Palace hasn’t responded to media reports, if confirmed, it will mark Middleton’s first appearance at the coveted awards since the inaugural U.S. ceremony in Boston in 2022.

Notably, the Princess of Wales has been a no-show at the Earthshot Prize event in Singapore in 2023 and the one in Cape Town in 2024. She also missed the 2025 ceremony in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, as she took a break from royal duties following her 2024 cancer diagnosis.

Royal editor Russell Myers commented: “The secret to the Prince and Princess of Wales’ marriage is support for one another throughout their roles as working royals and as parents to their three young children. Everything they do is in tandem, and this includes Catherine being the catalyst for William launching the Earthshot Prize when he doubted it could become the global success it has.”

William first launched Earthshot in 2021 with a deep and honest commitment towards tackling important environment-related issues. This includes climate change, rising global temperatures, and wildfires, amongst others. Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond explained that the Princess of Wales’ role is pivotal in making the cause the success that it is today.

Bond remarked: “They are completely aligned in their love of nature and their belief in the climate crisis facing the world. It’s not just that she feels she should support her husband. The natural world, the fresh air we hope to keep on breathing, and the delicate balance of preserving our planet are just as key to Catherine as they are to William. And that’s one of the many reasons why they make such a great team.”
