Ryan Murphy has teased a wild twist for American Horror Story Season 13. The American television writer teased it ahead of the anticipated premiere of the show’s 13th season on FX. The long-running American Horror Story will introduce an all-star cast for the upcoming chapter.
American Horror Story Season 13 has a surprise in store for franchise fans, with some actors playing dual roles from past seasons.
Speaking to Variety, Murphy revealed, “Some of them will be playing two characters from two different seasons in the same scene. Evan was, at one point, playing two different characters and talking to himself. So it was really fun and tricky to make, and I loved that. I’ve edited almost all of them, and I think they’re really good.”
Ryan Murphy knows which American Horror Story seasons fans want back
Ryan Murphy also mentioned the previous fan-favorite seasons of American Horror Story that Season 13 will take inspiration from. “I know which ones the fans liked the most. They love Murder House, Asylum, Coven, Freak Show, and they loved Cult,” he added.
At this point, most Season 13 details remain under wraps. Only the logline is available, which reads, “Which iconic horrors will return to haunt the hallowed halls of 13 and what new terrors await? Light your candles, draw your pentagrams, and prepare for a supreme surprise.”
AHS 13 will include a massive ensemble cast of popular and familiar faces. Sarah Paulson will return to reprise her role as Cordelia Goode from Season 3. Jessica Lange, who was last seen in Season 8, will also return. She has played Constance Langdon, Sister Jude Martin, Fiona Goode, and Elsa Mars across various past seasons of the anthology.
Global pop star Ariana Grande will also join the 13th season alongside series regulars Kathy Bates and Leslie Grossman.
American Horror Story Season 13 will premiere on September 24, 2026, on FX.
