Tamika Chesser, who is accused of murdering her 39-year-old boyfriend Julian Story, has pleaded not guilty. The 35-year-old has been held at James Nash House, a mental health facility in South Australia, since her arrest in June 2025.

Tamika Chesser pleads not guilty in Julian Story murder case as prosecutors detailed disturbing allegations

People reports that Chesser appeared via video link from James Nash House, a mental health facility in South Australia, to enter her plea at Adelaide Magistrates Court on August 11. Prosecutors allege that Chesser murdered Story at their shared Port Lincoln apartment in Australia. She allegedly beheaded him before burning his remains on June 19, 2025. This was two days after his suspected death.

Officers responded to the apartment after a neighbor reported seeing a fire. Chesser allegedly told officers that “nothing” had happened before locking the door and taking her dogs for a walk. Officers found Story’s remains inside the apartment and Chesser sitting in the backyard in a “catatonic and unresponsive state,” ABC states. On July 31, 2025, a member of the public and their dog discovered a skull. South Australia Police later confirmed in a September 2025 statement that the skull belonged to Story.

At the time, Chesser was pregnant. She was later arrested and charged with murder. She reportedly gave birth while at James Nash House, according to a March report from 9News. Her lawyer told the court recently that an investigation into Chesser’s mental competence was still underway. Chesser, a 2010 contestant on Beauty and the Geek, is expected to appear in the Supreme Court for her arraignment later this year.
