Duane “Keefe D” Davis has rejected a plea deal ahead of his upcoming trial in the 1996 killing of Tupac Shakur, maintaining that he is innocent despite prosecutors’ allegations. His decision comes just days before jury selection is set to begin in one of hip-hop’s most closely watched criminal cases.
Keefe D Maintains His Innocence and Points the Finger Elsewhere in Tupac’s Murder
The court has scheduled Duane “Keefe D” Davis to stand trial in the Tupac Shakur murder case on August 10, 2026. Ahead of the trial, Davis has continued to maintain his innocence while alleging that others were responsible for the crime, as reported by The Blast.
Recently, Davis appeared in an interview with 8News Now, where he stated that he had not committed any crime. He added that he saw no reason to accept a plea deal that could result in him spending decades behind bars.
Keefe D said, “I didn’t do nothing. I’m 63. I had a cancer battle. And I got three stents to my heart, and the average American lives like 74 years old. Ten years, I’m dead.”
“So why would I take a deal? I heard it was, like, 10 and 25. I’m not going to do that. I’m not going to take a deal like that. Especially after I haven’t done it. I’m an innocent man,” he added.
Shakur was shot multiple times after attending the Mike Tyson-Bruce Seldon heavyweight title fight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas in September 1996.
survived for six days after the shooting, but unfortunately, he passed away from his injuries.
The case remained unsolved for decades until a dramatic turn came in 2023 when Keefe D was arrested on suspicion of being connected to the drive-by shooting.
