Meghan Markle’s latest Instagram post has sparked fresh online debate over copying influencer Nara Smith‘s content. Some social media users claimed the Duchess of Sussex’s flower-picking video looked very similar to a floral-themed post Smith shared just a few days earlier. This led to widespread comparisons across social media.

The discussion started after Meghan Markle posted a short Instagram story on August 2 of herself picking flowers in a garden and arranging them into a bouquet.
Nara Smith, who has built a massive following with her lifestyle and cooking content, had shared a similar video, days earlier. It was a video documenting her process of picking wildflowers from a hillside she had planted herself.
Wearing one of her signature dresses with red gardening clogs, Smith carried a basket while gathering cosmos, bachelor buttons and other blooms before arranging them into a bouquet in her kitchen.
In the video, which has received more than 130,000 views, Smith reflected on watching the flowers grow after planting wildflower seeds. The influencer captioned the Instagram post, “Anytime there’s an inconvenience, you’ll find me making flower arrangements.”
Critics claim Meghan’s video looked “strikingly similar” to the influencer’s video. Meghan showed her shadow walking through a garden carrying a pair of scissors before clipping purple cosmos flowers. “Let’s clip this…” Meghan said before the video transitioned to a finished bouquet displayed on a kitchen counter beside a lit candle.
Soon afterwards, users on X began posting the two videos side by side, arguing that Meghan’s content closely resembled Smith’s aesthetic and concept.
One critic wrote, “Last week, Nara Smith posted a beautiful video of wildflowers… and right on cue, Meghan Markle dropped the Temu version.”
Several other commenters had similar sentiments, criticizing both the video’s presentation and Meghan’s flower arranging. “Markle’s version is really bad – both the substance of her video and her faux flower arranging!!! SMH,” one user wrote.
Another added, “Meghan has no clue how to arrange flowers. None.” Another user remarked, “Markle is incapable of having her own unique ideas, it seems.”
