Cops Find a Stunning Amount of Drugs During Routine Traffic Stop

It’s common for cops to catch a driver every now and then with drug possession during a traffic stop. But even police in California were shocked by the sheer amount of drugs they found in a truck in Fresno County. However, multiple commenters on the story were more than suspicious about how easily the driver seemed to give up.

Commenters have a different theory on why the traffic stop happened

On July 26, officers made what they thought to be a standard traffic stop after observing that a 2019 Honda Ridgeline on Interstate 5 had a vehicle code violation, according to a post from the California Highway Patrol‘s Central Division on its official Facebook page.

However, police discovered “several indicators consistent with criminal activity” during the stop and decided to investigate further. After the driver consented to them searching the pickup truck, they found 25 packages weighing about a kilogram each that were all filled with drugs. Both the driver and a passenger in the vehicle were arrested.

The packages were inspected by the Fresno High Impact Investigations Team, which confirmed that the suspected narcotics where indeed cocaine. They believe that the estimated street value of the entire haul was about $2.5 million.

More than several commenters, though, found it unusual that the driver gave his consent for the search in the first place. One wrote, “Who consents to a search with 25 kilo lol.”

This led to another user providing a theory on why the traffic stop seemed so easy: “They knew this was their assignment. Distract with a sizeable shipment while the giant shipment passed behind them while all available resources are on them.”

One commenter agreed that the truck was merely a decoy for a much larger operation, “The bigger package made it while this one had everyone’s attention lol.”
