TMZ states Jason Alexander has given $15,000 to Unchained At Last, a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending child marriage in the United States. Sources told about the donation after Alexander made a public apology to Stodden. A representative for Alexander confirmed that he donated. The representative did not comment on the amount.
The donation was made after Alexander apologized for a 2012 Funny or Die sketch he made with Stodden. Stodden was 17 years old when the sexually charged sketch was filmed. She recently said that she was revisiting Pretty Woman, and it triggered painful memories from that experience. Alexander played businessman Philip Stuckey in the 1990 film alongside Julia Roberts.
TMZ reports that Courtney Stodden told them the film reminded her of the emotions she felt during the 2012 sketch. She accepted Alexander’s public apology and urged him to match his words with a meaningful action. Stodden asked Alexander to help Unchained At Last, besides offering an apology. Alexander made the donation, which his representative later confirmed to the outlet.
Courtney Stodden is a strong supporter of the organization and its mission. Stodden supports Unchained At Last because she experienced child marriage herself. She legally married actor Doug Hutchison in 2011 when she was 16 years old, while Hutchison was 51. The donation to the cause marked another step after Alexander apologized to her.
