The former on-air talent addressed his abrupt firing in his first video after being laid off from Stern’s show by posting a deadpan comedy video from inside an Old Navy store.
In his tongue-in-cheek video that Jonathan Blitt posted on Instagram this week, he said, “So today is my first day working at Old Navy,” he said in the clip. “It’s different from my last job, but it’s a job, and the first thing I learned is ABF, ‘Always Be Folding’.”
The line was a playful nod to the famous “Always Be Closing” mantra from Glengarry Glen Ross. Fans reacted warmly to the clip in the comments, with many praising Blitt for finding humor in the situation rather than airing grievances publicly.
Blitt continued the bit, joking that folding needs to happen anytime he isn’t actively helping a customer, before signing off. While he did appear to be filming inside an actual Old Navy, the video seemed solely as a comedic response to his firing rather than confirmation of an actual retail gig.
Jon was among the four on-air talents to face the brutal layoff at Howard Stern’s SiriusXM show that hit at least a dozen employees on July 13. The cuts came as Howard Stern shifts to recording just one new live show per week going forward.
According to reports, the affected employees learned of the layoffs during a Zoom call and were sent home immediately. They received severance packages based on their years of service.
