Jacob Elordi revealed the grueling reality behind filming Nate Jacobs’ death scene in Euphoria Season 3. The actor appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! alongside guest host and co-star Colman Domingo on July 21. Elordi shared that creator Sam Levinson put him through an intense physical ordeal for the final season.
The actor spent two full days locked inside a coffin wearing heavy prosthetics and a fake tongue. He also could not see out of his eyes during the shoot. Levinson then added live snakes into the coffin to heighten the tension further.
“I think Sam brought me back to torture me,” Elordi said during the interview. “It was like six weeks of me just getting beat by a seven-foot guy.” He added that he “was just running the whole time” throughout the final season’s intense sequences.
However, the snake proved far less threatening than expected on set. Elordi described the boa constrictor as having “a very nice personality” and being “very docile and very sleepy.” He explained that the reptile lacked energy because “I don’t think he’d had a lot of sun.”
The actor even had to encourage the snake to perform its role properly. “I was kind of nudging him, trying to get him to get active and do the scene,” Elordi recalled. He noted the snake “was meant to be threatening” but instead “kept curling up at my feet.”
Elordi also acknowledged the audience’s complicated relationship with his character over the years. “Finally, after eight years of all of you saying, ‘Nate, kill Nate,’ I read your tweets,” he joked. “Now you’re sad.”
His upcoming film The Dog Stars, directed by Ridley Scott, opens in theaters on August 28.
