Prince William’s sweet Wimbledon outing with Prince George put his fatherly side on display. The event always brings out the royals, but the warm father-son moment was the day’s standout. The tender exchange quickly made its way online, with fans across social media sharing reactions and praising the bond on display.
Prince William and Prince George’s Wimbledon moment melts hearts
Prince George has royal fans buzzing after footage surfaced of him with Prince William at Wimbledon. The pair joined Princess Catherine and Princess Charlotte for the tournament’s final day on Sunday.
Dressed in suits and watching from the Royal Box, the Prince of Wales and his eldest son spent the match chatting. One video caught the 12-year-old tugging for his father’s attention and saying “Papa.” While the rest of the conversation wasn’t heard, royal watchers online melted over the sweet address.
“The Prince of Wales and Prince George have such a wonderful father-son bond. These two great future Kings will have each other’s backs for life,” wrote an X (formerly Twitter) user. “Happy to be at Wimbledon with his Dad & Mum,” read an Instagram comment. “I think it’s Adorable that George calls him papa,” echoed another.
Prince George also got royal fans talking after he was seen playing around in a Wimbledon hat, making Princess Charlotte and Princess Catherine laugh as they watched from the Royal Box. The young prince accesorized his suit with trendy sunglasses, even with the UK in the middle of a heatwave, per the Daily Express.
Prince George’s Wimbledon outing might be his final public appearance before September, when he enrolls at Eton College as a boarder. The soon-to-be teen will live and study on campus.
It’ll be a shift for the family who’ve always lived together. However, the elite all-boys school is only a short drive from their Forest Lodge home in Windsor.
Prince William is also an alumnus of Eton College. He made history in 1995 by becoming the first senior royal to attend, and his firstborn is following in his footsteps by joining the school.
