King Charles‘ reunion with Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and their kids, Archie and Lilibet, has finally happened. This comes days after reports claimed the monarch and his son were in talks about bringing the latter’s family together for a day. The family meet-up comes after the Sussexes faced numerous challenges for their UK trip, including security concerns and palace stay drama.
King Charles meets Princess Lilibet and Prince Archie
Buckingham Palace confirmed that King Charles and Queen Camilla hosted Prince Harry, Meghan, and the children at Highgrove House in Gloucestershire, England. The gathering marked the first time the king had seen his grandchildren, Lilibet and Archie, in four years, following their last visit in June 2022. It is to be noted that no images or details from this meeting will be released in the media, as it was a private family gathering (via PEOPLE).
Meghan Markle and the kids’ plans to come to the UK faced security concerns earlier, as the Sussexes weren’t provided with tax-funded security. They were reportedly offered royal accommodation and security only on that property, not beyond that. But the palace stay offer was withdrawn at the last minute, too, with palace staffers claiming that Prince Harry failed to accept it by the given deadline. Therefore, they weren’t able to make accommodation arrangements. However, Prince Harry’s representative argued that he was first focused on sorting out security concerns before accepting the proposal.
A few days back, The Mirror UK reported that King Charles and Prince Harry engaged in private conversations in recent weeks, which have taken a “hopeful” turn. It was known that their discussions also included bringing Markle and the kids to Britain for a day. Moreover, Prince Harry was also “frantically” making security arrangements to keep himself and his family safe throughout their trip. Ahead of the family’s arrival, Prince Harry came alone on Monday, July 6. Before that, the Sussexes enjoyed a vacation in Europe.
