A new report suggests that Prince Harry‘s kids have little understanding of the royal family. The claims emerged as rumors swirl over whether Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet will visit the U.K. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s children have grown up largely outside of royal life in California, after their parents stepped down from royal duties and moved to the U.S. in 2020.
Prince Harry’s kids, Archie and Lilibet, are reportedly unaware of the Royal Family status
According to HELLO! Magazine, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are “very excited” about potentially meeting their grandfather, King Charles. However, the outlet noted that they don’t “have any concept” of their royal relatives and what that means.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are bringing up their two children as “normal little kids” in Montecito. Because of that, Archie and Lilibet seemingly don’t realize that their grandfather is actually King Charles. The publication reported that the 7-year-old prince and 5-year-old princess are looking forward to a holiday and possibly meeting their grandfather on a U.K. trip next week, not with the head of the monarchy.
“The truth is they don’t really have any concept about who they (the royal family) are, their parents are very good at keeping them away from it all so they live as normal little kids,” a source close to the Sussexes told HELLO!
The last time Charles met his grandchildren in Britain was for Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022. Archie was born in the UK in 2019, when his parents were still senior royals, and got to spend a brief time with the royal family. Lilibet was born in California in June 2021, after Harry and his wife had stepped back. Her 2022 visit to the U.K. is reportedly the sole occasion she has met her grandfather in person.
For now, though, it looks like Harry will be making the trip alone. Due to ongoing security disputes, his wife and children are not expected in London with him. It remains unclear if they will join him outside the capital.
