Travis Kelce’s Lawyers Made a Major Move Days Before Taylor Swift Wedding — Report

Travis Kelce was dealing with some major legal matters just days before his wedding to Taylor Swift. In new documents obtained by TMZ, Kelce and his teammate Patrick Mahomes claim the shoe company 1587 Sneakers is trying to sue them in New York federal court. Previously, 1587 Sneakers reportedly accused the duo of infringing upon the trademark with the name of their steakhouse, 1587 Prime.

Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes challenged a trademark lawsuit, claims report

Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes are fighting a trademark lawsuit, as per a report by TMZ. Kelce and Mahomes argue that the case should not be heard in New York as they don’t have sufficient ties to the place. However, 1587 Sneakers has claimed that the duo indulges in national advertising. Hence, they can be sued in a New York court.

For those unversed, Chiefs players Kelce and Mahomes were accused of infringing upon the trademark of 1587 Sneakers with the name of their own steakhouse, 1587 Prime. Notably, 1587 is the combination of Mahomes and Kelce’s T-shirt numbers (via PEOPLE).

Kelce and Mahomes opened the Kansas City steakhouse in September 2025. Notably, the NFL duo filed a trademark for the steakhouse’s name a couple of months after 1587 Sneakers opened its doors in April. Kelce and Mahomes filed a trademark for their restaurant’s name in December that year.

Although the trademarks are filed in separate categories, 1587 Sneakers has alleged in its lawsuit that “scores of consumers” are confused because of the similar-sounding names. As per the lawsuit, 1587 Prime sells clothes as well and wants them to stop using the brand name and shut down the clothing vertical.

The Chiefs star was busy with his wedding celebrations to the Grammy-winning pop star. The wedding festivities began on July 2 when the couple hosted a rehearsal dinner. Notably, 100 people attended the event at Infosys Theater in Madison Square Garden. This was followed by the actual wedding ceremony on July 3, with 1,000 people in attendance, as per Page Six.
