Dylan O’Brien and Finn Wolfhard fans have very little time to catch one of their most acclaimed movies on Netflix before it leaves the platform. The star-studded cast of the film also features J. K. Simmons, Gabriel LaBelle, and Rachel Sennott.
Saturday Night leaves Netflix in July
Saturday Night exits Netflix on July 25, 2026, according to What’s on Netflix. The movie is a biographical comedy-drama based on the true story of the premiere of the iconic NBC sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live, which, at the time, had the same title as the movie.
Jason Reitman directed the film from a script he developed with Gil Kenan. The movie’s ensemble cast portrays various real-life figures. O’Brien stars as Dan Aykroyd, whereas Wolfhard plays the role of an NBC Page.
Additionally, Simmons stars as Milton Berle, LaBelle as Lorne Michaels (the creator and producer of SNL), Rachel Sennott as Rosie Shuster, Emily Fairn as Laraine Newman, Cory Michael Smith as Chevy Chase, Ella Hunt as Gilda Radner, Matt Wood as John Belushi, Matthew Rhys as George Carlin, Willem Dafoe as David Tebet, Naomi McPherson as Janis Ian, Nicholas Podany as Billy Crystal, and Jon Batiste as Billy Preston.
Saturday Night debuted in US theaters on September 27, 2024, following its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival on August 31, 2024. The movie underperformed at the global box office, making just over $10 million (via Box Office Mojo). However, it drew mostly positive responses from critics and currently has a 77% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
In their review, G. Allen Johnson of The San Francisco Chronicle wrote, “Saturday Night is bursting with talent and ideas, is sometimes funny, sometimes groan-worthy, sometimes full of it — and even, at times, inspired. In other words, much like a typical episode of Saturday Night Live.”
