Kate Middleton finishes 23-mile hiking for cancer charity
Kate Middleton participated in hiking at the National Three Peaks Challenge. It is a 24-hour event that involves climbing the highest peaks in Scotland, England, and Wales. The Princess completed climbing Scotland’s Ben Nevis, England’s Scafell Pike, and Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) in Wales.
Middleton took to X (formerly Twitter) to open up about the trip. The 44-year-old also shared a picture of her smiling near a rock, wearing a black hood jacket and a cap with hiking gear on her back.
She wrote in the caption, “Every year, hundreds of thousands of people in this country hear the words no one wants to hear. What follows is a path that tests every part of who we are: physically, emotionally, psychologically and spiritually.”
The royal continued, “The challenges ripple outwards, touching families, friendships, work and the quiet moments we spend alone with our thoughts.” Further, Middleton talked about cancer, including her own experience with the disease.
“Cancer doesn’t just affect the body. It changes how you think and feel and profoundly affects every aspect of life,” the mother of three said. She explained that “the journey through and beyond treatment requires more than medicine alone.”
Middleton shared that she did not take the challenge “simply as a physical endeavour,” but “as a chance to explore life beyond diagnosis and to give something back.” She added, “The Royal Marsden is a place that holds great meaning for me and whose.”
The Princess of Wales continued, “Through this challenge, I want to raise awareness for the deeper impact of serious illness and the importance of holistic healthcare.” She also raised awareness for holistic therapies and how it is an important support during a patient’s difficult time.
Middleton concluded, “Together, we can stand alongside everyone navigating life with cancer, ensuring no one faces this disease feeling unseen or unsupported. Please know you are not alone.”
