Michelle Obama shared an exclusive peek into the opening ceremony of the Obama Presidential Center last week in a recent Instagram post. The short clip shows Barack and Michelle Obama welcoming Bill and Hillary Clinton, George and Laura Bush, and Joe and Jill Biden. The former first families shared warm exchanges as they came together for the stellar event.

“It was such a joy getting to spend time with Joe and Jill, George and Laura, and Bill and Hillary last week,” Michelle penned in the caption. “Barack and I will always be grateful for your constant friendship and support of our family over the years. (And George, thanks for the mints!),” she added.

At one point, George W. Bush gifted Michelle a tin of Altoid mints as the pair shared a warm hug and posed for a photo. It is a reference to their viral 2018 moment when George slipped an Altoid mint to Michelle during Sen. John McCain’s funeral.

George W. Bush also reacted to the stunning new painting of Barack and Michelle Obama. The joint portrait was unveiled just before the grand opening ceremony of the OPC. The former first lady gushed about globally renowned artist Njideka Akunyili Crosby, who created the piece. George marveled at the artist’s talent, saying, “She’s good!”

The former families stood at the museum tower, overlooking the stunning Chicago skyline. The Obamas also pointed out several iconic landmarks as well as some places from their early years in the city.
