Donald Trump has said that he is healthier and a better golfer than Barack Obama. The president made the comments at a Texas campaign rally. Trump also praised former White House physician Ronny Jackson, whom he said had previously declared Trump the healthiest of three presidents.
Donald Trump claims he’s healthier than Barack Obama and a better golfer
According to OK! Magazine, Trump made the remarks during his October 27 rally in Corpus Christi, Texas. He recalled asking Jackson who was the healthiest among the three presidents, including Barack Obama and George W. Bush. Trump claimed Jackson responded, “Without question, the healthiest is President Donald J. Trump.”
Trump then turned to golf, declaring himself “a much better golfer” than Obama. He also joked about the former president’s eating habits, saying that “every piece of lettuce he eats has to be perfect, and I’m not that choosy.”
Fox News also reported on the story, sharing an X post showing a clip from the rally. The caption quoted Trump’s claim that Jackson had been asked which of the three presidents was healthiest and had answered, “Without question, the healthiest is President Donald J. Trump.” Trump then added, “And I loved it!”
Trump’s comments drew criticism and renewed attention to his health claims. A White House medical report released in May stated that Trump was in “excellent health” and fit to perform his presidential duties. The report also noted slight lower-leg swelling and recurring bruising on his hands. The White House attributed the bruising to frequent handshaking and aspirin use. The report also recommended dietary improvements, increased physical activity, and continued weight loss.
The White House’s assessment has come amid continued public discussion of Trump’s health. The medical report said his cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and overall physical function were strong, while noting the swelling and bruising.
Trump’s latest comments have therefore renewed attention to how the White House describes his health, particularly as he continues to make comparisons about his physical condition.
