A recently released excerpt centered around Donald Trump has revealed several never-before-heard tidbits about the President’s life, including the unexpected nickname he has for his youngest son, Barron. Given the staunch viewpoints he abides by in the public eye, be it in conferences or on social media, this pet name has come as a surprise to people, specifically due to its tender nature.
New book reveals what Donald Trump calls his son Barron
According to a book by New York Times reporters Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan, titled Regime Change: Inside the Imperial Presidency of Donald Trump, the Republican Party leader refers to his only son with Melania Trump as “honey.”
Haberman and Swan’s detailed account states that during the time of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, Barron Trump had called his father in panic to check up on him. Per the book, he was the first person to inform Donald Trump of the conservative activist’s murder.
During their conversation, Barron expressed his worries regarding the safety of his father before explaining how the latter was endangering his life by continuing to address large crowds (via The Independent).
Contrary to how he deals with anyone who crosses his path, the 80-year-old President reportedly handled the situation with utmost compassion. After hearing the concern of his son, Trump comforted the then-19-year-old by saying, “Calm down, honey, calm down.”
Notably, Donald Trump’s pet name for Barron bears an emotional resemblance to the nickname his wife has for Barron. In an earlier interview, the First Lady revealed that she often refers to the 20-year-old as “little Donald” due to the similarity in personality he shares with his father.
“He is a very strong-minded, very special, smart boy. He is independent and opinionated and knows exactly what he wants,” Melania noted at the time, as per Biography.
In addition to the nickname Trump has for his youngest son, the Regime Change book also talks about other significant aspects of the businessman-turned-politician’s tenure as President, including the Iran War, the Epstein controversy, and more.
