Star Trek: Strange New Worlds returns next month
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4 will debut on Paramount+ on Thursday, July 23, 2026. The streamer announced the release date with an official trailer for the upcoming installment. Similar to previous seasons, Season 4 will have 10 episodes and will follow a weekly release pattern.
The series is based on the franchise created by Gene Roddenberry. Akiva Goldsman, Alex Kurtzman, and Jenny Lumet developed the spin-off, while Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers served as showrunners.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is a prequel set seven years before the events of Star Trek: The Original Series. It follows Captain Christopher Pike and the crew of the starship USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) during the decade before the original series. The crew takes on high-stakes jobs while exploring vibrant new worlds.
The show’s cast features Rebecca Romijn, Anson Mount, Ethan Peck, Jess Bush, Christina Chong, Celia Rose Gooding, Melissa Navia, Babs Olusanmokun, Bruce Horak, and Martin Quinn, among others.
Season 1 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds premiered on May 5, 2022. The subsequent seasons were released in 2023 and 2025, respectively. Each season received strong reviews, and the show is often regarded as one of the best modern Star Trek series. Many praised the show’s episodic structure as well.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the series has garnered an average critic score of 94% across the first three seasons. Meanwhile, users rated it 70%, a lower score but still better than many modern Star Trek titles.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will return next year for Season 5, which will be the series’ concluding chapter. However, it will feature only six episodes.
