Years after the conclusion of the hit drama, The O.C., Olivia Wilde reflected on which of her co-stars was the “better kisser.” Wilde portrayed bisexual bar manager Alex in the second season and shared scenes with both Mischa Barton and Adam Brody. In her recent appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Wilde picked between the two.

“Mischa was a great kisser,” Wilde said on the podcast, “I remember she had really pretty lips. She had the most beautiful…She has the most extraordinary face.”

During the run of the show, Alex’s romance with both Marissa (Barton) and Seth (Brody) was renowned.

“I remember when Mischa and I did the kiss, it was like Sweeps week, which is when that was a big deal and the ratings would spike, and for that show it was like an event,” she recalled about the kiss. “It was an event! And it was, like, the most tame kiss you’ve ever [seen]! It’s a peck! It’s like a greeting!”

The actress further revealed, “I think it had a lot to do with the fact that [Barton’s] character had been kind of created as this, like, idealized, gorgeous, ingenue, sweet, pure thing,” she further added about the attention the couple received at the time. “And the idea of queerness at the time was still relegated to, like, the quirky, weird kids.”

“It was not mainstream girls,” she continued, adding, “It was not that girl. It was never the popular, pretty… and that I think the idea that this girl might be figuring out her sexuality, that was what people were really like, ‘Oh, my God!'”

So, it seems that Wilde had a clear favorite among her on-screen relationships on The O.C. The on-screen romance also had a big impact on the fan base. “There were a lot of young people who saw that and started to ask themselves questions and have conversations with their parents,” Wilde added, “And that’s what I hear still to this day, which is amazing.”
