‘Really Painful’: Dwayne Johnson Opens Up About Testicular Cancer Scare

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson recently opened up about a cancer scare he had. The wrestling star turned film actor has two major blockbusters releasing later this year. However, working on some of the biggest franchises in the world was the least of the actor’s worries earlier this week.

What did Dwayne Johnson say about his cancer scare?

In a new profile on Esquire, Johnson talked about his recent experience with potential testicular cancer. “By the way: I’m fine,” he told Esquire, confirming that he was indeed not a victim of cancer. Johnson said that he felt a lump in one of his testicles earlier this week and scheduled an appointment with his doctor on Monday. Upon inspection, the doctor told Johnson that the lump was “probably epididymitis”, though he did not rule out cancer.

When asked about his schedule for the rest of the day, Johnson told his doctor he was supposed to be promoting Jumanji: Open World all day. He was told to get an ultrasound as soon as possible.

“So I had to live with that for those twenty-four hours, not knowing—and I had to be on all day, joking around, making speeches. But! I’m okay,” he added.

Following a career in WWE, Johnson has worked in various Hollywood releases, including major franchises like DC, Fast & Furious, and Jumanji. The actor will reprise the role of Hobbs in the upcoming tenth instalment of the Fast & Furious franchise, titled Fast Forever. Before that, Johnson is expected to star in a new spinoff, Hobbs & Reyes, to set up Fast Forever. He is also set to star in a new mob movie directed by Martin Scorsese. The film has been described as the “last great American mob story” by its writer.

The actor will next be seen in Moana 2, which opens in theaters on July 10, 2026.
