Bill Gates Claims Jeffrey Epstein Blackmailed Him in Testimony — Report

Bill Gates recently alleged that Jeffrey Epstein blackmailed him. He did so while testifying before the House Oversight Committee, who were investigating the late financier.

Bill Gates was reportedly blackmailed by Jeffrey Epstein

In his statement to the House Oversight Committee, uploaded to his personal blog, Gates revealed that Epstein became aware of “sensitive information” about his personal life, including his extramarital affairs during his marriage to Melinda Gates. He clarified that these were unrelated to his interactions with the child sex offender, but admitted their painful impact on his family.

Pointing to the information in the released files, Bill Gates said that Jeffrey Epstein tried to use information about his unfaithfulness to blackmail him into reconnecting after the former distanced himself. “He was unsuccessful in this effort,” the philanthropist noted. “But it shows some of the ways he tried to leverage his interactions with me to further his agenda.”

Also in his statement, Gates expressed his support for the files’ release. He also hoped that Epstein’s victims would receive much-deserved justice. Furthermore, the 70-year-old clarified that he neither witnessed nor suspected Epstein’s “ongoing criminal conduct.” He also claimed that he never visited the latter’s infamous island, ranch, or Florida home. He even swore that he never “victimized anyone.” Gates stressed that while Epstein might have been interested in building a personal relationship, he wasn’t and didn’t reciprocate.

Gates recalled first meeting Epstein in 2011 through trusted individuals in his professional and philanthropic network. “Epstein claimed he could raise billions of dollars for global health from people for whom he provided tax and estate services,” he further recounted.

The Cascade Investment chairman admitted that he knew of Epstein’s past legal issues. However, he said he did not fully understand the extent of his crimes. “I accepted the introduction without applying the scrutiny I should have,” he added.

Gates also expressed regret for meeting Epstein. Calling it “a grave error in judgment,” he added that it put his work on global health “at risk.” “His behavior was antithetical to all my efforts to contribute to a world where everyone has a chance to live a healthy and productive life,” he shared. “If the time I spent with Epstein lent him any credibility, I am deeply sorry. I have learned a significant lesson and am now far more careful about who I engage with even in a limited capacity.”
