Holt McCallany returns to hunt a dangerous serial killer in Hyde. After probing the minds of killers in Mindhunter, McCallany will continue to chase them in the upcoming movie.
What do we know about the new Hyde movie with Mindhunter’s Holt McCallany?
Hyde is being directed by Graham and Parker Phillips of Rumble Through the Dark fame. The “noir-tinged” psychological thriller has entered production in Bucharest, Romania.
McCallany plays Detective Grimes, a “haunted investigator descending into the decaying underbelly of a crumbling metropolis while hunting a brutal serial killer.” Nathalie Emmanuel of Game of Thrones fame will play Detective Doran, an officer assigned to shadow Grimes. Bruce Greenwood plays Henry Monroe, a “therapist Grimes is mandated to see, whose sessions begin to reveal the detective’s troubled past.”
The cast is rounded out by David Harewood, who will play Robert Malloy, a “Lieutenant trying to hold an underfunded department together while hoping he can drag Grimes back from the edge.”
“We’re thrilled to be working with such intelligent and collaborative actors,” said the Phillip brothers. “Everyone arrived with bold ideas, strong instincts, and a real willingness to explore and take risks, all against the backdrop of Bucharest, whose architecture and atmosphere feel tailor-made for this twisted tale.”

Tamasco and Kristofek added, “It’s a privilege to have Holt join and lead this cast alongside Nathalie, Bruce, and David. We could not be more excited about the team that has come together and the film we’re creating here in Romania. We cannot wait for audiences to experience Hyde.”
Besides Mindhunter, McCallany also featured in Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, The Amateur, The Lincoln Lawyer, and more. Emmanuel has starred in The Killer, Megalopolis, and recent entries in the Fast and Furious franchise.
Graham and Parker Phillips also co-wrote the screenplay and are producing through Phillips Pictures. The film is also produced by Jason Tamasco and Zak Kristofek for Traction. Cassian Elwes, Keith Danko, and Bailey Rotsky will serve as executive producers.
Hyde currently doesn’t have a release date.
