Blood Moon Rite 8 gets US release date
According to Deadline, Blood Moon Rite 8 is set to arrive in North American theaters later this month following its successful theatrical run in Vietnam. The comedy feature will begin screening in the United States and Canada on May 22, 2026, with the release targeting more than 90 theaters across major Vietnamese communities in states. This includes California, Texas, and Washington.
The North American rollout is being organized through a collaboration between Skyline Media and Eastern Edge Films. Directed by Phan Gia Nhat Linh, the movie reimagines the concept behind One Cut of the Dead, the Japanese cult hit from filmmaker Shinichiro Ueda.
The film centers on a struggling director who has built a reputation for producing low-budget movies. Hoping to reconnect with his daughter and prove himself creatively, he takes on the challenge of filming a zombie movie live in one continuous take. The project quickly turns into the biggest undertaking of his career.
The cast is led by Van Son, whose appearance in the movie marks his first major theatrical role in 25 years. The ensemble also includes Charlie Nguyen, Quang Minh, Lien Binh Phat, Le Khanh, Hong Anh, Hua Vi Van, and Lam Thanh My.
Produced by Chanh Phuong Films, Anh Teu Studio and Sidus And Teu Entertainment, the feature also includes cameo appearances from several well-known Vietnamese entertainers and filmmakers. These include Tran Thanh, Thu Trang, Nguyen Quang Dung, Huynh Lap, Kieu Minh Tuan, Thai Hoa, and Kaity Nguyen.
