Andy Samberg has teamed up with Elle Fanning for Hellmann’s 2026 Super Bowl commercial. Samberg recently shared that he’s portraying Neil Diamond in a musical parody ad centered around mayonnaise. Praising the brand’s past hit commercials, he said the upcoming ad felt like an exciting opportunity.

Andy Samberg and Elle Fanning will star in a Super Bowl commercial for Hellmann’s mayonnaise. Samberg portrays Neil Diamond in this musical parody ad inspired by a sing-along anthem. In a conversation with PEOPLE, the actor and comedian shared more details about the commercial. He said, “I was told that there was going to be a re-imagining of a Neil Diamond song for a spot, and it was for the Super Bowl, which was very exciting, of course.”
After appreciating the brand’s previous commercial spots, Samberg further added, “I thought there was probably going to be some fun to be had.” He further revealed that he’s also a big fan of Diamond, whom he has channeled in the upcoming ad. He explained, “Love Neil Diamond. Not just him, but I also love Will Ferrell’s impression of him he used to do on SNL. He’s an American classic, and he writes songs people want to sing along to.”
Samberg believes that he was the perfect choice for the role, given his love for sandwiches and Neil Diamond. “I think with condiments, there’s never too many. That’s my hot take,” he further added.
On the other hand, Fanning revealed that the ad was a big deal for her and the family, given that her grandfather came from an NFL background. “My mom is the most proud of me to get this. We screamed together. I could not wait to tell her. We love the Super Bowl. We throw parties. We watch it and we love the commercials. So now I get to pop up in one,” she said. Fanning also expressed her love for mayo and condiments while talking about a sandwich recipe that her grandmother passed down.
