‘Do Your Job’: Star Trek Star Tells Politicians Claiming New Show Is ‘Woke’

Whoopi Goldberg, who plays Guinan on the Star Trek franchise, recently slammed Elon Musk and Stephen Miller after they criticized Star Trek: Starfleet Academy for being “woke.” Goldberg took the issue up on the latest episode of The View and told Musk and Miller to do their respective jobs, while the actors will continue doing theirs.

Whoopi Goldberg, a long-term supporter and cast member of Star Trek, came in defense of the series after political figures like Elon Musk and Stephen Miller attacked the new Star Trek: Starfleet Academy for being too “woke.”

Musk shared a post from a user that claimed, “I don’t know about you guys but if I’m ever forced to watch more than 7 seconds of this new Star Trek I’ll be rooting for whatever species is able to take out the Enterprise the fastest,” and wrote, “Turns out they banned Ozempic and LASIK in the future lol.” He referenced the body types of the characters while Miller said something similar.

Goldberg took up the issue on The View. “They’re complaining that the show has gone woke,” the 70-year-old Oscar winner began. “See, this was a show that was created with the idea that people from other planets would come and we would all find a way to exist together,” she continued, “This was [creator Gene Roddenberry’s] idea, this was his dream. When you watch Star Trek, that’s what it shows you.”

She proceeded to ask Musk and Miller directly, “Why are you concentrating on a television show when people are being shot and killed, when people are going hungry, when farmers are losing their farms, kids can’t get meals at school? Why are you paying attention to this?”

Goldberg added, “Please, do your job, and we actors and people from outer space, we’ll do ours. The live audience erupted in applause as Goldberg said this and took an advertising break.

This comes amidst the chaotic social and political landscape in America.
