Melissa Joan Hart has experienced good and bad days in her life. However, many may not know that one of the unexpected nights was when the 49-year-old actress lost two major projects. Hart recently revealed why and how the two disasters struck her on the same night with little time in between.
Here’s why Melissa Joan Hart was fired from two projects
Hart appeared on the latest episode of Picture Day on Betches, where she saw her old photos and shared memories. Hart stumbled upon a picture of herself with Britney Spears at the premiere of Drive Me Crazy in 1999. But while premiere nights are mostly congenial events for performers, fate had other plans for Hart. She revealed that she got fired from two projects on the same night.
The first cataclysm struck Hart on her way to the airport after she left the Drive Me Crazy premiere to travel to Vancouver for her role in Scary Movie. She received a call from someone in the Scary Movie team, who told her she had been fired from the project due to her “b**bs” not being “big enough.”
“We [Hart and Britney] did the press together, and then we went inside to watch the movie. But I was actually flying to Vancouver to shoot the movie Scary Movie,” revealed Hart. “I was supposed to be the small part in the beginning. That’s like the Drew Barrymore knockoff part. But they decided, when I did the fitting, that I didn’t have big enough boobs for that part…I got a call, and it was like, ‘Turn around, go back to your premiere. You’ve been fired from the movie.'”
While this one didn’t have much of an effect, the second disaster struck Hart after returning to Drive Me Crazy’s premiere. She revealed, “And when they get there, my lawyer meets up with me first and says, ‘Because of your cover of Maxim magazine, you’re being fired from your show [Sabrina: The Teenage Witch].”
People.com reports that the second scare Hart faced on the night didn’t materialize. The 49-year-old eventually retained her role in Sabrina: The Teenage Witch. However, Carmen Electra replaced her in Scary Movie.
