New Mastodon Music Underway: Brent Hinds Posts Studio Update

We can’t wait for the next installment of prog-blast glory from Mastodon, and excitement hits a new high today as new music is confirmed via an Instagram post from vocalist/guitarist Brent Hinds.

A pic of Hinds playing a pedal steel guitar was posted Saturday with the caption: “Got to work on a really cool new Mastodon song today! First time playing my new 13 string pedal steel I got from @robertrandolf.”

A well-known shredder on upright pedal steel guitar, Robert Randolph has shared stages with legends such as B.B. King and Eric Clapton, and rocked with the Dave Matthews hippie coalition.

Mastodon’s sixth album, Once More ‘Round The Sun, landed last June via Reprise Records and earned a number 6 spot on Crave’s Top 20 Albums of 2014. The album was recorded in Nashville with Grammy Award-winning producer Nick Raskulinecz, who is known for his work with Foo Fighters, Rush, Deftones and more.
