Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes to be 1080p on PS4, 720p on Xbox One

Have you decided on which version of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes to get next month? You may want to reserve judgment until you see the latest information.

Technical details for all versions of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes have been published by Konami. In the case of the Xbox One, they’re pretty damning. Here’s the breakdown for resolution and frame rate:

The difference between 720p and 1080p is actually double, with the former producing roughly one million pixels per frame, and the latter boasting two million. While the visual difference may not be quite as significant as the numbers say, it’s enough to be noticeable in screenshots.

Below we have a gallery with two images from each platform. You’ll notice that the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions are relatively identical, while the PS4 is noticeably more clear than that of the Xbox One version thanks to a massive resolution difference.

Even if you decide that you’re going to go for the Xbox One version, at the very least you’re getting a smooth 60 FPS image, something never before seen in the franchise (Metal Gear Solid 4 jumped around from 30 to 60 FPS).

On that note, it’s become clear that this will be a major trend with the new generation of consoles. The PS4 simply has more computational power, thanks in-part to its unequaled 8GB of GDDR5 memory. There’s little hat Xbox One game developers can do to close the gap.
