Alien: Isolation is a Survival Horror Game Set in Aliens Universe [UPDATE: Trailer Added]

A listing has appeared on the Xbox Games Store revealing Alien: Isolation, the next console game to be based upon the Alien franchise.

According to the listing, the game will see players assuming the role of Ellen Ripley’s daughter, Amanda, as she navigates through an “increasingly volatile world” to discover the whereabouts of her mother. Alien: Isolation takes place fifteen years after the events of the first Alien film, and the game’s description reveals that players will be up against a solitary Xenomorph as well as the “panicked, desperate” population of the planet Amanda is exploring. The original description also states that the game will be four-player coop, though this information was later removed.

Intriguingly, the game is listed as being survival horror, which is a contrast to the more action-oriented Alien games we have seen over the years. While we’re excited to see a game that leans more towards the first Alien film rather than its action-packed sequel, we’re still more than a little cautious after the travesty that was Aliens: Colonial Marines.

The update to the Xbox Games Store was spotted by Twitter user ‘lifelower’, who tweeted a screenshot of the page before it was removed from the Xbox website.

However, the listing is now back online, along with an image of the Alien’s design in the game, which you can see below.

Alien: Isolation is set to be developed by Creative Assembly and published by Sega of Europe, and has been confirmed for release on the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4 and PS3.
