COD: Ghosts’ PS4 Version Will Add 1080p in Day One Update

If you’ve been lucky enough to get a PS4 before launch, you may not be as impressed by Call of Duty: Ghosts‘ singleplayer visuals as you might have expected. There’s a good reason for that.

Activision has confirmed that a day one update will be available for the PS4 version of COD: Ghosts which changes the display resolution from 720p to 1080p. This change only affects the singleplayer mode since multi-player is already running at 1080p.

An official statement by Activision reads:

Call of Duty: Ghosts runs natively at 1080p on the PlayStation 4. There was a configuration issue in the retail version on single player mode only. This has been addressed with a day one software update. People will be able to download the day one update when PlayStation 4 launches in their territory and play at native 1080p.

Previously it was thought that this impacted comparisons between both next-gen consoles, but the footage used by outlets has been from a build that properly represents both versions accurately.

The change will be very noticeable, so whatever you do don’t skip the option to update your game if you plan on playing through the new campaign.
