Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes Will Cost $30

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, the prologue to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, will be sold separately on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 for $30 at retail and $20 digitally for current-gen consoles, publisher Konami has revealed in a press release.

This price point is quite high considering series creator Hideo Kojima’s explanation of the standalone game’s purpose seems to indicate that it’ll act as a tutorial, with him stating: “There will be a significant difference in what Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain brings to the series, so we want to ease players into the new open world environment and its potential, allowing them to fully benefit from all that the new game offers. As such, Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes has been designed to introduce key elements, while setting up the events of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.”

Ground Zeroes will be coming to Microsoft and Sony’s current-gen and next-gen consoles in the Spring, but while it will be available as a $20 digital download for the Xbox 360 and PS3, for the Xbox One and PS4 it will cost $30, the same price point as its retail equivalent.

A release date for Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain has not yet been confirmed.
